The 2019 SLA weekend course - "Building Identity, Building Readers" - a joint venture with CILIP YLG - was held on 21 to 23 June 2019 at the Aston Conference Centre, Aston University, Birmingham, with a broad theme of wellbeing and identity.

The SLA's next weekend course will be held on 19–21 June 2020 at Ashford International Hotel in Ashford, Kent.

Held in June at a different location each year, the course is hugely popular and has become an essential element of continuing professional development for many school librarians – a weekend of inspiration, information gathering and networking and "a wonderful melting pot of ideas".
The three-day course is fully residential, with day delegate options also available. SLA Members qualify for a large discount on the course fee.
